YouGov put Conservatives back above 40%
Tonight's YouGov poll has topline figures of CON 41%(+2), LAB 32%(+1), LDEM 18%(-2). Others are down to 9%. The poll was conducted yesterday evening and today, so is entirely after the Conservative manifesto launch. Like most polls, the change from the previous poll is not significant in itself, but the Conservatives are back above 40% and their lead back up to 9 points after an apparent narrowing at the beginning of the week. The Lib Dems are down, but they still have the publicity boost from today's manifesto launch to come.
The poll still shows no sign of the narrowing of the lead that Populus picked up yesterday. There should also be a ComRes poll tonight (albeit one that would have been partially conducted prior to the Conservative manifesto launch) so we shall see what that shows.
On YouGov's other questions (the fieldwork for which was all conducted today), YouGov asked which party's manifesto had the best policies, which was most honest and which was best for Britain. The Conservatives came top of all three. On which manifesto was most honest about the problems facing Britain Labour trailed in third place behind the Lib Dems. All three questions had over a quarter of people saying don't know - the reality is, as we saw in Populus's poll yesterday, that most people really don't pay much attention to the details of these things.
