Sunak's Personal Approval Crumbles in Wake of Concrete Crisis

After a relatively stable period for the polls over recess, the concrete crisis looks to have mustered some movement. Although only Redfield & Wilton, so far, has shown a shift in overall voter intention, their most recent poll saw Labour gain 4%, Rishi's personal approval ratings have been more volatile.

Of the four approval polls conducted since the start of September, all show a decline in Rishi Sunak's personal ratings. Deltapoll, which was the first to be released, put this dip at 4%, YouGov and Redfield & Wilton both suggest it was 9% and Omnisis registered 12%.

Starmer's ratings also saw a comparable increase - except for with Deltapoll where his +1 net approval remained stable. Omnisis suggested he gained 7 points, whilst his approval increased by 6% according to YouGov.

Although these shifts may not persist, it does seem to mark a significant moment for Sunak's personal approvals. Sunak had long outperformed the popularity of his party and he is no longer doing this by a meaningful magnitude. As pointed out by @Beyond_Topline on Twitter, Starmer's lead over the Prime Minister now is comparable to his lead over Boris at the height of Partygate and then when he resigned. It doesn't bode well for a 'President Rishi' strategy...
