The public's judgement on the email smears

I am expecting at least two new polls in the Sunday newspapers, our first chance to see how the public have reacted to the email smears and the political fuss around it over the last few days. I will update here as soon as the figures are available. UPDATE: The

Waiting for the verdict

The "email smear" story is all over the media for a fifth day. What we don't yet know is how the public will react. We might normally expect an ICM poll around now, but pollsters do not normally conduct polls over the Easter bank holiday weekend

European election predictions

Burson-Marsteller have again commissioned Simon Hix and Michael Marsh (this time joined by Nick Vivyan) to carry out a prediction of the European Parliament election results. The whole prediction has a rather fancy website here. Hix and Marsh produced a similar prediction for the 2004 elections, which predicted that the

Populus show no G20 bounce for Labour

Populus have a new poll in the Times tomorrow, the second since the G20. The topline figures are CON 43%(+1), LAB 30%(nc) LDEM 18%(-1). The poll was conducted between Friday and Sunday. This is the second poll since the G20 conference but, unlike YouGov, shows no boost

More from the ICM/Sunday Mirror poll

The tables for the ICM poll in the Sunday Mirror are now available here, so we can see what they actually said. It was a snapshot poll of only 500 or so people, hence the lack of a voting intention question. It's worth noting that the table here

More from the YouGov/Sunday Times poll

There aren't the normal wide grab bag of question topic's in today's YouGov/Sunday Times poll, instead it concentrates on the G20 and MPs expenses. Looking at the regular trackers first Gordon Brown's personal ratings have risen strongly - 41% now think

Labour boost in first post-G20 poll

A new YouGov poll in the Sunday Times is the first to test public opinion since the G20 meeting. The poll went live on Friday morning, so respondents would have had chance to see the news coverage of the conference. The topline figures, with changes from YouGov's last

Waiting for the G20 verdict

After a few weeks of rather dull and static polls, we will hopefully have something of interest in the next few days. I am expecting a YouGov poll over the weekend, and Populus's monthly poll for the Times should be in the field and arriving on Tuesday. If

European Elections

Many people will have already noticed, since there's a great big link to all the pages on the sidebar, but I've now added a page to the Election Guide part of the site for each of the UK regions for the European Parliament, showing the candidates

A Welsh voting intention poll?

Voting intention polls in Wales are fantastically rare, but we do appear to have have one here! The poll was commissioned by Plaid Cymru and carried out by Beaufort Research. The topline voting intention figures, with changes from the last time Plaid released figures from their poll back in September

ComRes voting intention and YouGov on expenses

ComRes have a new poll in the Independent tomorrow. The topline figures, with changes from the last ComRes poll, are CON 40%(-1), LAB 28%(-2), LDEM 18%(+1). Labour are lower than in other recent polls, but we're seeing roughly the same gap between the Conservative and
