Most trusted MPs
There's a fun little question in the Times today from their Populus poll. They asked people to rate how much they trusted a number of high-profile MPs, using a scale of 0 to 100. The highest rated one, not a huge surprise it has to be said, was Vince Cable, who scored highly amongst supporters of all political parties - Lib Dem supporters rated him on average at 61, higher than the Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg, Conservative supporters rated him 63 (again, higher than most of the Conservative politicians rated on the poll) and Labour supporters rated him at 53.
David Cameron was second overall with an average of 50, Conservative supporters rated him at 73, with Labour and Lib Dem voters rating him as only slightly untrustworthy at 44. He was closely followed by William Hague. Nick Clegg was fourth, with supporters of all three parties giving him middling ratings.
Moving down the scale Gordon Brown was 7th, behind Boris Johnson and George Osborne. His ratings were highly polarised - Labour supporters rated him as very trustworth indeed (70.5), but Conservative supporters rated him down at 28.4. Four of the other bottom five were Labour politicians (Michael Gove was the lowest rated Conservative), with Peter Mandleson getting the lowest ratings of all. He was deemed very untrustworth by Conservative (25.8) and Liberal Democrat supporters (33.3), and scraped an average rating of 50 from Labour party supporters, the lowest rating given to a politician by their own party's supporters.
