More Al-Megrahi polling

There is yet another Scottish poll asking if people agree or disagree with Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al-Megrahi's release from prison. This time it was commissioned by the SNP and carried out by YouGov, and for the first time it shows support and opposition to the decision equal, both on 45%.

One might be forgiven for being slightly suspicious that the only poll that doesn't show people opposing the decision was commissioned by the SNP, but the tables are already up on YouGov's website here and the question seems perfectly reasonable.

Do you think the Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill was right or wrong to release Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al-Megrahi on compassionate grounds?

Right 45% Wrong 45%

So why the contrast with earlier surveys? Well, all four Scottish surveys asking about the decision have used completely different wording, so it could be a result of that. Alternatively, public opinion in Scotland could simply have moved in favour of his release.
