ICM/Guardian - 37/31/20 - UPDATED

There is a new ICM poll in the Guardian this evening, topline figures with changes from their poll in the Sunday Telegraph (which was actually conducted last Wednesday), are CON 37%(-1), LAB 31%(+1), LDEM 20%(-1). In itself there is no significant change in this poll, but it comes on top of the slight narrowing in the YouGov polls over the weekend. I am expecting YouGov and ComRes polls later tonight, so let's wait and see if they confirm a narrowing of the lead.

As with YouGov's poll yesterday, the public thought David Cameron had enjoyed the best first week of the campaign - 66% think he did well in the first week, 51% think Nick Clegg did and only 45% think Gordon Brown did. Nevertheless, it doesn't seem to be translating into an increased lead in the polls and there are no prizes for "best campaign" come election day, it'll be the votes that count. UPDATE - Well one poll supports the trend already! Opinium in the Daily Express apprently has topline figures of CON 39% (nc), LAB 31% (+2), LDEM 17% (nc) - Labour gaining at the expense of "others".

Also notable is a drop in the proportion of people who think it is "time for a change" - it is still a very chunky majority of respondents (63%), but down from 66% in January and 69% in March 2009.
