ICM - lecturers to reject pay deal?
An ICM poll for the Times Higher Educational Supplement (though no sign of it on the THES website) suggests that the industrial action by lecturers that appeared to have been settled last week may not be over after all. The pay offer of 13.1% over three years - the same offer as was rejected by the union previously but sweetened with the promise of a later pay review - still needs to be voted upon by union members.
An ICM poll of higher education staff found that, amongst union members, 47% said they would not accept the deal, with only 42% saying they would. 81% of backed the union's original claim of 23% over three years and 57% supported the principle of an exams and assessment boycott in pursuit of the claim.
