ICM - Conservative lead back up to six points
Following the Labour party conference last week the Labour party received a significant boost in its ratings, with two polls showing them neck and neck with the Tories. An ICM poll following the Conservative party conference shows the Conservative lead bouncing back up again. The topline figures with changes from ICM's poll last weekend are CON 38% (+2), LAB 32% (-3), LDEM 20%(+1).
The poll suggests that either the Conservatives have recorded a similar conference boost, or thatthe Labour boost was a purely temporary affair. The poll was conducted on the Wednesday of David Cameron's speech and the following day, so would have been at the height of any publicity boost the Conservatives did receive. We'll probably have to wait a while for the polls to calm down before we can really see if the conference season made any difference at all to the standings of the parties.
