Brexit Regrets Reach All-Time High - Majority Now Wants to Re-Join
The British public now regrets Brexit more than at any other point since the referendum, according to two separate pollsters: YouGov and Deltapoll. Last week, YouGov recorded their highest ever share of voters, 57%, saying Brexit was a mistake. Just 32% thought Brexit was the correct decision. A majority of voters, 51%, now even wants to join the EU - it represents a lead of 19% over those who want to stay out.
This trend was corroborated in Deltapoll's latest release. The pollster also recorded their highest ever share of voters - again now a majority - in favour of rejoining the EU. According to them, 51% want to re-join whilst 34% are content outside of the EU.
Omnisis also joins a consistent field of polling. As they find a solid - and growing - margin in favour of re-joining, although short of a majority. According to Omnisis, 32% of voters support the status quo, down 2 points on their last poll, whilst 48% want to re-join. Recent polling therefore suggests a large and growing share of voters are now in favour of re-joining the EU. Although this doesn't mean re-joining is a top concern on voters' minds, it does suggest Britain's relationship with the European Union is far from a settled issue in British public opinion.
