Sunak Still More Popular Than Party as His Approvals Sink

Rishi Sunak now has the lowest net approval of any any point since he became Prime Minister, at least according to Ipsos MORI - this fits with the broader evidence from a range of pollsters. The Prime Minister now sits on unfavourable ratings of 46% (+7 from January), with 27% (-3) holding a favourable view of him. This leaves a net favourability of -19%, down 10% in just one month. For comparison, Keir Starmer's net score is -7%.

Even with this drop, Rishi's numbers are above those of his party. The Conservative Party currently has net favourability of -29%, which is a slight decrease on January - though less than Rishi's drop which suggests the gap might be closing. Rishi also outperforms almost every other Conservative figure listed, with net favourability 5% above Boris, 8% above Theresa May and 43% above Liz Truss.

In addition to providing Rishi's lowest ranking since he became Prime Minister, the poll also puts the proportion saying Brexit has had a negative impact, 51%, at the highest level since January 2020. With six in ten voters also thinking the country is headed in the wrong direction, Rishi will want to do something to turn it around.
