Labour Lead Up Four Percentage Points in Three Weeks
Labour's polling lead has climbed by 3.3% since Boris Johnson resigned on June 9 and by 4.2% since June 13. According to our polling average, Labour now leads the Conservatives by 19.2%. This trend is made apparent when polling results are plotted by their date.
There may well be space for Labour's lead to grow further, as events of the past few weeks continue to filter through to our polling average. It's difficult to say what specifically has caused Labour's resurgence, however it could be accounted for by psychodrama in the parliamentary Conservative party and a succession of negative headlines for the government. Labour's lead of 19.2% is the highest it's been for over three months. It's not exactly an ideal state of affairs for CCHQ with four by-elections on the horizon...
